Insight Into College, Employment and Independence for Young Adults with Learning Differences including High-Functioning Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD.

Featuring panel presentations by several expert guest speakers who work with the Autism and Learning Differences community and young adult transition; offering advice on the key stages of transition to adulthood including: letting go, adjusting to college, finding success in the workplace and achieving independence.

Presentations By:

Dr. Michael McManmon
Michael McManmon, Ed.D. is a licensed psychologist and the Founder of the College Internship Program and has worked with college age students with Asperger’s and other learning differences for over 40 years. McManmon’s work includes curriculum development, staff training, and program administration. He has an inside perspective as he has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. Dr. McManmon speaks nationally and internationally on topics related to the CIP curriculum and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Dr. Brian Harke
Dr. Brian Harke is recognized in academic and corporate sectors as a leader in the area of personal and professional development of college students. He is a contributor to the Huffington Post and is regularly called upon to provide insight about programs related to college success. Dr. Harke is currently the Dean of Students in the University Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts.

Emily Iland, M.A.
Emily Iland is an award-winning author, advocate, researcher, and leader in the autism community. Her adult son with ASD and extensive experience with transition issues inspired her new project, BE SAFE The Movie: How to Interact Safely with the Police. She is the mother of a young man with ASD and brings personal experience and insight to her professional roles.

Dr. Jessica Romeyn
Jessica Romeyn is an Independent Educational and Clinical Consultant with a specialty in working with young adults on the Autism Spectrum as well as those that are challenged by complex emotional issues. She works with families, students, and professionals to locate the most appropriate settings for her clients.

Myka Winder, OTD, OTR/L
Myka Winder is a clinical faculty member and occupational therapist at USC who works with the college student population. She currently works with young adults with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders on transitioning to college, social skills, and symptom management to encourage meaningful participation in daily life.

Alex Plank
Alex Plank is the creator of WrongPlanet.net, the popular site for individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism. Both Alex and Wrong Planet have been featured by CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and Good Morning America. Alex serves as the consultant for the TV series “The Bridge” and works with Diane Kruger on developing her character. Wrong Planet has more than 70,000 registered members and its discussion forums contain millions of messages.
